They are building ‘Begumparas’ with looted money: Gonoforum MP in JS

Gonoforum lawmaker Mukabbir Khan today said many of the current and former MPs, bureaucrats, businessmen, and politicians have looted money and built many "Begumparas", "second homes" and "third homes" in different countries, including the USA, the UK, Australia, Canada, Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore.
"If you talk about these second homes, something bigger than expected might come out and embarrass the government. So I won't go there," he made the comment taking part in the thanksgiving motion on the President's speech.
He said that due to the post-Covid situation, Russia-Ukraine war, money laundering, government mismanagement in some places, and widespread looting in the banking and financial sectors, commodity prices are beyond the reach of common people today.
"When you go to the market, it does not seem any government is in charge. Those who are involved in looting indiscriminately are never brought to book."
Saying that the middle- and lower-middle classes are the worst affected, the Gonoforum MP said the standard of living of many is going down, and many are going below the poverty line.
The government has given fair price cards to one crore low income people. There is serious mismanagement and corruption there. Some 80 percent of these cards are given to party leaders and workers. Even multiple cards are given to the same family. Poor people are not getting any benefits, he added.
Mukabbir said that price syndicates are once again active ahead of Ramadan, while energy prices were also hiked just a few a days ago, adding to the people's sufferings.
"Corrupt, unscrupulous syndicates always prey on the people. I would request the prime minister to set up a tribunal to bring all the top corrupt and looters to justice and make them pay."
