A bust of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and a park named after him were inaugurated yesterday in Ankara, the capital of Turkey.

"It's really a matter of pride and honour for the nation that a bust of  Bangabandhu and a park named after him are being inaugurated today [yesterday] at  the capital city of Turkey," said Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC)  Mayor Atiqul Islam, while unveiling the bust.

The DNCC mayor, who is now visiting Turkey, said, Bangabandhu and Bangladesh are one and the same.

Atiqul said there is a road in Dhaka's Banani, Kemal Ataturk Avenue, which is named after Turkey's "father of the nation". And recently a park adjoining the avenue was also decided to be named after Ataturk, he added.

Among others, Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, governor of Ankara Vasip Sahin, mayor and deputy mayor of Ankara, and high commissioner of Bangladesh in Turkey Mosud Mannan were present at the inauguration programme.
