Roni protests at Rajshahi Rail Station
Mohiuddin Roni, who recently withheld his protests against irregularities in railway operations in Dhaka, staged a demonstration on the same grounds at Rajshahi Railway Station yesterday.
Roni placed a six-point demand and the railway officials cooperated. Ashim Kumar Talukder, general manager of west zone railway, expressed his solidarity with Roni's demands.
"I agree with the demands he [Roni] brought forward," said Ashim.
Roni, along with some students of Rajshahi University, distributed leaflets on the demands yesterday afternoon to raise awareness among people.
He told reporters that his experience with Rajshahi railway officials was positively different from their colleagues in Dhaka.
After the demonstration, he left Rajshahi by Padma Express.
Roni also said he opened a Facebook page where anyone can raise a complaint with valid documents and evidence.
Stern programmes will be held against corrupt railway officials based on the complaints, he added.
