Preserving Old Dhaka’s heritage
The Bangladesh chapter of European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) has announced a new initiative to study and preserve the architectural heritage of Old Dhaka.
The project titled River Heritage was launched at a city hotel on Monday when the European Union celebrated the Europe Day.
River Heritage is the third chapter of a long-running heritage-focused initiative by EUNIC involving Alliance Francaise, Goethe Institute British Council, Spanish and Belgian embassies, and the EU Delegation in Bangladesh.
The project, which will run between 2023 and 2024, will concentrate on architectural heritage, its peoples' way of life, the means of their subsistence, and the intricate relationship they keep between the river and the city.
