Port city in festive mood
Owing to the Eid holidays, residents of the port city snagged the opportunity to visit recreational places around Chattogram.
Patenga sea beach was the most sought after destination as a huge number of holidaymakers were seen enjoying the afternoon during the Eid holidays.
Children took rides on horses, while many were seen taking a dip in the sea.
Newly married couple Ashit Barua and Suparna Barua came to Patenga beach on Monday. They said they had plans to visit Cox's Bazar during Eid vacation but they postponed it and decided to enjoy the vacation with family members in the city instead.
Ariful Islam visited Patenga beach on Monday with his wife. "Earlier I visited the beach with my friends but this time I'm spending time here with my better-half," he said smilingly.
A good number of people were seen visiting Parki sea beach in Chattogram's Anwara upazila as well while hundreds thronged Foy's Lake Amusement Park.
Tasnuva Binte Karim, a fifth-grader, came to the park with her parents. She said she was enjoying the park's rides.
Her father Abdul Karim said, "I promised my daughter that I'll bring her here during Eid holidays."
Contacted, Biswajit Ghosh, deputy manager (marketing) of Foy's Lake Concord Amusement World, said around 12,000 people visited the establishment in the last three days.
"If the weather's favourable, we expect more crowd in the next seven days," he said.
Swadhinata Complex, which is also known as Mini Bangladesh, also saw a huge turnout.
Mohammad Ali, the complex's manager, said they were satisfied with the visitor turnout in the last three days. "The daily turnout in the park is around 2,000 during Eid holidays," he said.
"The Chattogram Zoo also saw a good visitor turnout. Over 30,000 people visited the zoo during Eid," said Shahadat Hossain Shuvo, the zoo's deputy curator.
Besides, Naval Academy Road, Karnaphuli Park, Kazir Dewri Park and Butterfly Park were also crowded.
