PM mourns death of Afsar Uddin Ahmed
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the demise of former state minister Afsar Uddin Ahmed Khan.
The prime minister also prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed her condolences to the bereaved family.
Advocate Afsar Uddin died at his Dhaka residence on Tuesday, aged 81.
Younger brother of Tajuddin Ahmad, the first prime minister of Bangladesh, Afsar Uddin left behind two sons, a host of relatives and well-wishers.
He also served as lawmaker from Gazipur-4 constituency.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held at Laxmibazar in Dhaka, the second one at Dhaka Judge Court, third one at Supreme Court and the fourth one at his village in Dardaria, Kapasia upazila, Gazipur.
Later, he was laid to rest at his family graveyard.
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader also expressed deep shock at the death.
