The liberation war affairs ministry organised the key handover ceremony at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium where the prime minister joined virtually from the Gono Bhaban.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq presided over the programme.

The houses are being given to the valiant freedom fighters as a gift from the PM as per her announcement on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and the celebration of 50 years of Bangladesh's independence.

The Tk 4,122cr project was approved by the Ecnec on March 21 last year.

Construction of each house costs Tk 14,10,382, according to official sources.
