Padma Bridge: 8 out of 415 lamp posts installed today
The installation of lamp posts on Padma Bridge has begun with eight set up on the first day (today) at the Mawa end (Munshiganj) of the bridge.
The length of each lamp post is 11.2m while the distance between one lamp post to another is 37.5m. A total of 415 lamp posts will be installed on the entire bridge. Of these, 328 will be on the main bridge and 87 will be on the viaducts of both sides, reports our Munshiganj correspondent quoting Saddam Hussain, assistant engineer (electrical) of the Padma Bridge project.
"Each lamp post weighs 275kg and a 175w LED bulb will be installed on each once the electric connection is given to the bridge," said Saddam.
According to Padma Bridge engineers, 95 lampposts have already arrived at the Mawa end.
"The made-in-china lamp posts will be gradually installed, in phases. All the eight lamp posts have been successfully installed today by local and foreign engineers without any mechanical defect," added the assistant engineer.
