Omar Faruque president, Dip Azad secretary general of BFUJ
Omar Faruque of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) has been elected president and Dip Azad of Nagorik Television secretary general of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) for the next two years.
A total of 34 candidates vied in the election against 10 executive posts.
Shahjahan Sardar, chairman of the election conducting committee, announced the results at Jatiya Press Club on Saturday night.
Other elected office bearers are Vice President Madhusudan Mondal, Joint Secretary General Sheikh Mamunur Rashid, Treasurer Khairuzzaman Kamal and Office Secretary Sebika Rani.
Four elected executive members are Ummul Wara Sweety, Dr Utpal Kumar Sarker, Nure Jannat Akter Sima and Sheikh Nazmul Haque Saikat. Voting was held at 10 units of BFUJ -- Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Jashore, Bogura, Rajshahi, Kushtia, Narayanganj, Mymensingh and Cox's Bazar.
