Nazrul Islam’s death anniv

Today is the 50th death anniversary of Shaheed Engineer Nazrul Islam, a freedom fighter, said a press release.

On the occasion, Prof Hazera Nazrul, wife of the martyr, has arranged a Qurankhwani and milad mahfil before Maghrib prayers at 204/A Gulshan-Tejgaon Link Road, Dhaka.

All his friends and well-wishers are invited to the programmes.

During the Liberation War, Nazrul conducted an operation to blow up five power stations in Dhaka. He was also an adviser on electrical and power issues to the then newly-formed Bangladesh government in 1971.

After independence, Hatkhola road was officially named after him, and Shaheed Nazrul Girls School was established in Shariatpur, his native district.
