The "derogatory remarks" made by State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dr Md Murad Hassan, are personal, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said today.  

"The remark was not made on behalf of our party or the government," Quader, also general secretary of Awami League, told journalists at AL central office.

The minister was holding a views-exchanging meeting with the mayors of Dhaka north and south city corporations and presidents, general secretaries of the party's units.

Asked whether Murad's comments tarnished the image of the government or if any action will be taken against him on behalf of the party, Quader said, "I will discuss the matter with the prime minister."
