Man held with gold bars at Ctg airport

A passenger was detained with 12 gold bars worth Tk 90 lakh at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram yesterday.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) officials seized the bars from detainee Mohammad Mizan Uddin's handbag, said CIID deputy commissioner AKM Sultan Mahmud.

Mizan arrived around 7:30am at the airport on a flight from Sharjah.

The bars will be deposited to the Bangladesh Bank exchequer, and a departmental case will be lodged under the customs act, said Sultan.
