LPG price hiked by over Tk 8 per kg
Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission hiked the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) sold by private companies.
According to the new rate, the price of 12kg of LPG, including VAT, is Tk 993, up from Tk 891.
The new price will be in effect from August 1.
The commission said they set the new price after LPG prices went up in the global market.
The price of LPG sold by state-owned LP Gas Limited remains unchanged. A 12.5kg tank still sells for Tk 591.
For usage as vehicle fuel, each litre will now cost Tk 48.61, up from Tk 44.
Announcing the new prices, BERC Chairman Abdul Jalil yesterday said a kg of LPG will cost Tk 82.75 in August. It was Tk74.24 in the current month.
The BERC set the prices of LPG for the first time on April 12, this year.
But the sellers have been taking between Tk 1,050 and 1,100 for a 12kg tank, which is Tk 150-200 higher than the price set by the BERC.
