Ismail Ferdous wins World Press Photo award
US-based Bangladeshi photographer Ismail Ferdous has been crowned as regional winner for the year 2022 among 4,066 photographers from 130 countries by World Press Photo Foundation.
The contest -- "World Press Photo Contest" -- drew 64,823 entries. Twenty-four regional winners from 23 countries were chosen.
Ferdous won the award in North and Central America category for his photo titled "The people who feed the United States" where a migrant sister was seen consoling her ailing brother who was on ventilator for five months due to Covid-19, which cost his job.
Later, his sister left her job to take care of him.
