Info minister slams BNP for not lauding pension scheme

Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud today came down heavily on BNP and a section of civil society members for being reluctant to appreciate the newly introduced universal pension scheme.
"The government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has introduced a universal pension scheme for the well-being of the marginal people. Though it is an extraordinary initiative, BNP as well as a section of civil society members have failed to hail it. The culture and politics of denial don't bring any good to a state," he said.
Hasan, also the joint general secretary of Awami League, was addressing the inauguration ceremony of Chattogram City Corporation-Red Crescent Physio Orthopedic Rehabilitation Centre in the port city's Kadamtali in the afternoon.
The minister said the country has received international appreciation for making remarkable progress in all sectors, but some "particular" individuals and some political parties, including BNP, cannot appreciate it.
"It is very unfortunate for the nation. We have a mindset to welcome any critical opinion. But blind criticism is not good."
He said some civil society members might say in future what is wrong in the scheme. They don't do anything but making criticism, he added.
