Govt cancels appointment of DAG Imran Ahmed Bhuiyan

The government has cancelled the appointment of Deputy Attorney General Imran Ahmed Bhuiyan and relieved him from the office of DAG.
The solicitor wing under the law ministry issued a notification to this effect on September 7.
The notification said the appointment of DAG Imran Ahmed Bhuiyan has been cancelled in the public interest under Section 4(1) of Bangladesh Law Officer Order 1972 and he has been relieved from the service.
On September 4, DAG Imran told reporters that he had refused to sign the statement that the attorney general's office was preparing in protest of the recent letter from global figures about the trial proceedings of Nobel Laureate Prof Yunus.
The following day, the Law Minister Anisul Haq said Imran had breached discipline by making the statement about not signing the letter.
On the same day, the attorney general's office issued a notification asking all its law officers to get permission from the AG before making any statement to the media.
Earlier today, while answering reporters' questions at the Akhaura Junction Railway Station in Brahmanbaria, the law minister said Imran Ahmed Bhuiyan has been dismissed from his post.During the same press interaction, asked about the request by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's family to send her abroad for treatment, the law minister said there was no scope for that as per the law.
The minister reached the station at 10:15am by intercity Mahanagar Provati Train. Local party leaders of Brahmanbaria welcomed him with flowers.
Leaders and activists of Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League, and other organisations were present.
Later, he left for his birthplace Kasba upazila by road.
