‘Free journo held in DSA case’

Local journalists formed a human chain at Thakurgaon town intersection yesterday demanding immediate release of Rahim Shuvo, Thakurgaon district correspondent of Daily Protidiner Bangladesh, and withdrawal of all cases under DSA against journalists across the country.

People from different professions participated in the hour-long programme, jointly organised by Thakurgaon Television Journalist Association and Online Journalist Association, to express solidarity with journos.

Judge of Rangpur Cyber Tribunal Md Abdul Majid  sent Rahim Shuvo to jail while he went to the court on last Thursday for seeking bail in a DSA case filed on April 18 in 2020.

Mominul Islam Bhashani, president of Baliadangi upazila unit of Swechchhasebak League filed the case against Rahim and three others for tarnishing his image.

The investigation officer of the case, Sub-inspector Khademul Islam, placed a charge sheet on April 30 accusing one Shawan Amin and Rahim Shuvo.
