Free eye screening camp held in Tangail
Distressed Children & Infants International (DCI) and Rights and Sight for Children (RSC), in cooperation with Faraaz Hossain Foundation, organized a free eye screening camp at Shakahria Asaduzzaman Ideal School in Tangail's Gopalpur on Sunday.
A team of doctors from Isphani Islamia Eye Institute & Hospital, Jamalpur provided treatment to the patients at the eye camp, says a press release.
The goal of the eye screening camp, which started at 10:00am continued till 4:00pm, was to identify and treat the underprivileged people who were in need of eye surgery, medicine or eyeglasses, but was financially unable to seek treatment.
The press release says a total of 713 underprivileged people including children received free eye treatment at the camp.
Of them, 98 patients were diagnosed with cataracts and 314 patients with refractive errors.
Moreover, 241 eye glasses were given to as many patients at free of cost.
The rest of the patients will be provided with corrective surgeries and receive eyeglasses at the same venue on September 29.
Besides, a total of 405 patients received medicine from the camp, while the cataract patients will go through surgery accordingly at Isphani Islamia Eye Institute & Hospital in Jamalpur from September 25.
