DU student found dead at hotel in Dhaka’s Segunbagicha
Police recovered body of a Dhaka University student from a hotel in Dhaka's Segunbagicha area early today.
Adnan Sakib (25), a student of International Relations department of 2014-15 session, used to live in Sergeant Zahurul Huq Hall of the university.
He could not be reached since Tuesday though his phone was not switched off.
As his wife lodged a general diary with Shahbagh Police Station, police tracked his phone and recovered the body from room 107 of Hotel Karnaphuli around 2:00am, said Md Palash, a sub-inspector of the police station.
The SI said they came to know which room Sakib was staying in from the hotel registrar and knocked on the door but found no response. They then broke the door and found the body hanging from the ceiling fan.
Hailing from Nilphamari district, Sakib identified himself as a DU admission seeker when taking the room.
Police recovered a note from the room, the SI said.
Quoting his classmates, the SI said Sakib was going through some personal problems.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
