DiCaprio greets Bangladesh govt

Academy Award winning Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who is an outspoken climate activist, has congratulated the government of Bangladesh on the recently established "marine protected area" around Saint Martin's Island.

He also greeted the local communities and NGOs on the achievement, which will help protect the island's biodiversity.

The St Martin's Marine Protected Area is the second and by far the largest marine protected area in Bangladesh.

DiCaprio's tweet on Friday read, "Congrats to the Government of Bangladesh, local communities & NGOs on a newly established Marine Protected Area around Saint Martin's Island that will protect an incredible community of biodiversity and provide key habitat for Bangladesh's only coral reef."
