A day for little bibliophiles
In the remote upazila of Barlekha -- about 76 kilometres from the Moulvibazar district town -- a daylong book fair was hosted for children yesterday.
Organised by Barlekha Nazrul Academy, the "Boi Mela" was held at Barlekha Girls' High School premises. The fair was dedicated to the martyrs of the Liberation War and freedom fighters.
For children like Saddam Hosen, it was like spectating a world outside television.
"I have seen such fairs on TV. This is the first time I got to experience one. This is just like a festival," he said.
A cultural programme was conducted by upazila vice chairman Taj Uddin and Barlekha upazila scout joint secretary Md Nazim Uddin, where writer Akmol Hossain Nipu was the key speaker and Sueb Ahmed, upazila chairperson, the chief guest.
