Darshana checkpoint resumes regular operations after 1.5 years
After a year and a half of closure, regular operations have resumed this morning at the Chuadanga Darshana checkpoint.
Sub-Inspector Abdul Alim, immigration in-charge of Darshana checkpoint told our Kushtia correspondent that people traveling to and fro Bangladesh through the Darshana checkpoint will no longer require No Objection Certificates (NOC).
All travelers must have an RT-PCR test certificate issued within 72 hours of departure to pass through this checkpoint, Abdul Alim said.
From May 16 this year, the Darshana checkpoint opened on a limited scale to repatriate Bangladeshis from India. Only Bangladeshis stranded in India, with a NOC from the Bangladesh High Commission, returned through this checkpoint at the time.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all Darshana checkpoint activities were halted on March 14 of last year.
