Cumilla incident: Perpetrators to be arrested soon, minister reiterates
The law enforcers will soon arrest those involved in the October 13 incident in Cumilla, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan reiterated today.
A day after the incident, the minister had said law enforcement agencies have already identified several of those involved with the incident and they would be able to arrest them soon.
While talking to reporters at his secretariat office today, the minister said, "Two to three suspects have already been arrested over the Cumilla incident. The perpetrators behind the incident will also be identified. More information will be provided soon in this regard."
"The incident was carried out with the ill-motive to destroy religious harmony and to deteriorate law and order of the country," said the minister.
"Those involved in the incident will be served exemplary punishment through proper investigation," the minister added.
Asaduzzaman expressed his condolence over the loss of lives in Chandpur and Noakhali following the Cumilla incident.
Asked whether anyone is instigating from abroad, the minister said, "There is no shortage of instigators inside the country".
