Covid-19: Country reports 18 new cases, no death

Bangladesh reported 18 new Covid cases in 24 hours until yesterday morning, taking the total recorded cases to 1,952,957.

With no new Covid death reported for the 23rd consecutive day, the total fatalities from the pandemic remained unchanged at 29,127.

The daily test positivity rate slightly dropped to 0.45 percent from Thursday's 0.51 percent, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.49 percent, while the recovery rate rose to 97.23 percent with 327 patients recovering during this period.

In April, the country reported only five Covid-related deaths and 1,114 new cases. A total of 14,100 patients recovered from the disease, according to DGHS data.
