Communal issue in HSC Bangla I paper: Question setter goes into hiding
The question setter responsible for creating the communal issue in HSC Bangla paper 1 has gone into hiding.
Proshanta Kumar Paul, assistant professor of Dr Shaiful Islam Degree College in Jhenaidah, made the question for the HSC Bangla first paper which has been widely condemned across the country for inciting communal hatred, reports our Jhenaidah correspondent.
Principal Balai Chandra Paul said he could not trace Proshanta despite frantic efforts.
The Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board in Dhaka identified the question setters and moderators. This question in Dhaka Board was prepared by Proshanta.
The question paper's moderators are Narail Government Victoria College Associate Professor Syed Tajuddin Shaon, Satkhira Assistant Women's College Associate Professor Md Shafiqur Rahman, Mirzapur United College in Narail Assistant Professor Shyamal Kumar Ghosh, and Bheramara Adarsh College in Kushtia Assistant Professor Rezaul Karim.
Prashant Kumar Pal came to the college on Tuesday morning and left after some time and since then his mobile phone has been switched off, said Principal Balai.
He also said he will implement the action taken against him by the authorities.
Proshanta hails from Hazra Khana village of Chougachha upazila of Jashore. He was not found there either and his house is locked, said Balai.
Teachers who prepared and scrutinised the HSC Bangla first paper question that hurt religious sentiments of Hindus have violated government guidelines for making question papers, officials have said.
Earlier yesterday, the Education board officials said they identified five teachers involved and initiated a probe.
Jashore board officials told The Daily Star that all five teachers were under the Jashore board and were master trainers for question-paper makers and moderators.
"Normally a question setter gets three days' training but they have received 14 days of training as they are master trainers," said Jashore Education Board Chairman Prof Ahsan Habib.
He said the board yesterday formed a three-member probe committee, led by the Jashore board Inspector of College KM Rabbani, to investigate the allegations of "instigating communalism".
It was asked to submit the probe report within three to seven days.
