Charges pressed against Taslima Nasrin, 2 others
Police have pressed charges against exiled writer Taslima Nasrin and two others in a case filed for hurting people's religious sentiments.
The two others are Women Chapter editor Supriti Dhar and sub-editor Shucheesmita Simonti.
After around three and half years' investigation, Investigation Officer Md Nazmul Nishat, also an inspector of CTTC unit of police, on October 3 submitted the charge sheet of the case to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka.
Name of another accused Leena Haque, advisor editor of Women Chapter, was not included as the IO could not find out her address during the probe.
In the charge sheet, the IO said the accused published false defamatory information regarding religion in Women Chapter's website. On April 19, 2018, Mahbub Alam, editor of monthly magazine Al Bayyinat and daily Al-Ihsan, filed the case against the four with the Cyber Tribunal of Dhaka under ICT act.
