Lawyers in Brahmanbaria will resume their court activities either from tomorrow or the day after, said Law Minister Anisul Huq.

Anisul said this while addressing the inauguration programme of Brahmanbaria Press Club this noon.

"You know that there has been a misunderstanding between lawyers and court officials in Brahmanbaria. Local lawmaker RAM Obaidul Moktadir Chowdhury and I sat with the lawyers and judges and the issue was amicably settled. Hopefully lawyers will restart their activities either tomorrow or the day after," he said.

The minister revealed this after the meeting at the circuit house.

Brahmanbaria Bar Association's President Tanbir Bhuiyan, who led the lawyers at the meeting, said, "The discussion was fruitful. Our demands have been met. We will announce the withdrawal of our boycott programme after a general meeting."

He, however, did not elaborate further.

Judicial activities at the district judge and chief judicial magistrate's courts in Brahmanbaria have been suspended since January 4, following an altercation between lawyers and court employees over the alleged misbehaviour with a judge.
