Ban on stone lifting: Goods transport strike in Sylhet
Owners and workers of goods transport enforced a 48-hour strike in Sylhet since this morning (October 31, 2022) seeking permission for manually extracting stones and also demanding withdrawal ban on stones lifting from quarries.
The strike began at 6am, reports our Sylhet correspondent.
After a meeting with the Sylhet district administration on Sunday night (October 30, 2022), the owners and workers of the goods transport confirmed the strike as the meeting was not "fruitful".
Earlier on October 17, Sylhet Divisional Truck, Pickup Van and Covered Van Owners-Workers Unity Council announced the strike at a press conference.
