Attack on CCC Project Director: Prime accused arrested

Police yesterday arrested the main accused in the case filed over the attack on a Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) project director.

The arrestee is Md Shahabuddin, a contractor, said police.

Shahabuddin went into hiding after the case was filed on January 29, said Nahid Adnan, deputy commissioner (north zone), Detective Branch (DB) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police.

On information, a DB team conducted a drive in the port city's Khulshi area and arrested him around 2:30am.

Earlier, police arrested four other accused in this case.

Golam Yazdani, an executive engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department, who was project director of a mega project of CCC, came under attack by a group of contractors at his office at CCC on January 29.

According to Yazdani, a section of contractors who wanted to get the tender of project works by violating the rule, attacked him as he did not agree to their proposal.

Kamal Uddin, a security officer of CCC, filed a case with Khulshi Police Station on the same day.
