2 cases filed over attack on Sylhet Medical College students
Two separate cases have been filed today (August 2, 2022) in connection with the attack on two students of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital and the harassment of a female intern doctor.
The medical college authorities have filed one of the cases against seven named and several unnamed persons with Kotwali Police Station, our Sylhet correspondent reports.
The another case was filed by the hospital authorities accusing one named and two-three unidentified persons, said Mohammad Ali Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
Mohid Hasan Rabi and Ehsan Ahmed, who were detained last night (August 1, 2022), were sent to jail after showing arrested in the attack case, said OC Ali Mahmud.
Meanwhile, the medical students and intern doctors today announced to continue the strike and protest programme.
The development came after their meeting with the college and hospital authorities, local administration, police and political leaders.
They claimed that five of their demands were met but as the identified attackers are not arrested, they will continue the protest.
Due to the strike of the intern doctors, treatment at the hospital is being hampered except the emergency and heath units, where the intern doctors continue providing service.
