140-member police contingent reaches Mali for peacekeeping
A 140-member contingent of Bangladesh Police reached Mali by a charter plane to join a UN peacekeeping mission in Bamako, its capital.
Commander Hasan Md Shawkat Ali is leading the 70-member Bangladesh Formed Police Unit (BANFPU-1) eight rotation while deputy commander Rahat Gawhari is leading BANFPU-2 fourth rotation.
Deputy Inspector General (operations) Haider Ali Khan and officials of the UN Affairs Wing bid them farewell last night at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, said a press release sent by Police Headquarters.
Police members have been serving in the UN peacekeeping mission in Bamako since 2013.
The dedicated members of police have brightened the country's image in the international arena, it added.
