Tourism ban in 3 Bandarban upazilas extended till Dec 11
Bandarban district administration has further extended the temporary ban on tourism in Ruma, Rowangchhari, and Thanchi upazilas till December 11.
This information was made public in a notice signed by Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Yasmin Parvin Tibriji on December 1, reports our Bandarban correspondent.
According to the public notice, this decision has been taken considering the safety of tourists in view of the application by army in Bandarban region.
It should be noted that the first travel ban in Bandarban started on October 17, for tourists in Ruma and Rowanchhari upazilas. In the second phase, the ban was extended till October 23. Then, in the third phase, travel ban was extended till October 30, and included Thanchi and Alikadam upazilas. The travel ban was further extended till November 4.
In the same sequence, travel restrictions were extended to the four upazilas of Bandarban from November 4 to November 8. After that, in the public notification of November 8, the district administration maintained the travel ban in Ruma, Rowangchari, and Thanchi upazilas till November 12, and exempted Alikadam.
After this, the ban was again extended from November 16 to November 20.
The district administration issued a public notice gradually increasing this ban from November 20 to November 28, and November 28 to December 4.
