Pushing needles without injecting vaccine: Tangail health official suspended
The health directorate has suspended Sajeda Afrin, assistant health inspector at Delduar Upazila Health Complex in Tangail -- for pushing needles into the arms of 30 people without injecting the Covid-19 vaccine.
"Due to misconduct as per the Government Employee (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 2018, she is suspended from her job. She will receive salaries as per the rules during her suspension," said a circular signed by Dr Belal Hossain, Dhaka divisional director of the health directorate yesterday.
Earlier, a three-member committee investigated the allegation and submitted its report on Monday.
On Sunday, Sajeda was scrapping the syringes without injecting vaccines, though she had pushed needles of the syringes into the arms of people.
As several vaccine recipients noticed the issue, they informed the resident medical officer Dr Shamim Hossain, who later found 20 such syringes in the scrap box.
Upon receiving the allegation, Tangail civil surgeon's office formed a three-member committee to look into the issue.
