‘Dhaka’s Detailed Area Plan to be finalised by Jan 2022’
The Detailed Area Plan (DAP) that will guide future constructions in Dhaka city, use of land and demarcation of canals and flow areas, is expected to be finalised in the next few months, Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Tajul Islam said today.
The gazette notification will be published after finalising DAP, the minister said at a review committee meeting at the ministry's conference room.
Tazul who is the convener of the DAP review committee said they have already taken the opinion of professionals like architects, planners, engineers, REHAB, BLDA and other stakeholders after holding meetings with them.
"If everything remains alright, we will finalise DAP by December-January and will publish a gazette notification," said the minister.
He said they want to complete DAP as early as possible.
More than a crore people live in Dhaka but many buildings were constructed without proper planning and by violating rules which has destroyed the beauty of the city, he said.
"Many multi-storey buildings were built by encroaching canals and water bodies. But we will not let it happen under any circumstances," said LGRD minister.
Urging engineers and other relevant professionals to play their role more carefully, the minister said everyone will have to construct their building by maintaining building code and the building plan, he said.
The minister said they have included components which are necessary to make the city liveable, modern and beautiful in DAP after reviewing. Many changes will be done in the city when DAP is implemented after its finalisation, he added.
