Culture of not sharing information created among govt, private officials: PIB DG

While every government office has to appoint a designated officer as per the Right to Information Act, that is not the reality on ground, Md Zafar Wazed, director general of Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) said today.
"A culture of not providing information has been created among government and private officials and employees," he said.
But the media has a right to ask for any information in public interest, said the DG while addressing a workshop held at PIB titled "Informing the stakeholders about the grievance redressal system."
Among others, PIB Director (Administration) Mohammad Afrazur Rahman, Deputy Director (Administration) Zakir Hossain and journalists of different media were present at the workshop.
National Integrity Strategy, Right to Information and Commitment to Service have also came in discussion in the workshop.
