ABM Khairul Haque appointed law commission chairman for 3rd time
The government has reappointed former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque as chairman of Bangladesh Law Commission for the next three years.
Justice Khairul Haque, who drew attention at home and abroad for some of his momentous judgements and works during his tenure as chief justice, has been appointed chairman of the Law Commission for the third time.
The law ministry issued a gazette notification to this effect on October 27, 2022 and Justice ABM Khairul Haque joined the office of the chairman of Law Commission on October 30, Commission's Secretary Atwar Rahman told The Daily Star.
He said Justice Khairul will enjoy salary, allowance, and other benefits equivalent to those of the chief justice as the commission chairman.
Justice Khairul worked as the 19th chief justice of Bangladesh between September 30, 2010 and May 17, 2011. During his career, he led the Appellate Division in declaring the caretaker government system illegal and unconstitutional.
