Voting ends in 2 Bagerhat union parishad, counting begins
Voting ended in elections to two union parishads -- Rajnagar and Khaolia -- of Bagerhat at 4pm today.
Counting of votes began shortly after the voting ended.
Voting began at 18 centres in the two union parishad at 8am, reports our Bagerhat correspondent.
In Rajnagar union under Rampal upazila, Awami League candidate Sultana Parveen and independent aspirants Mizanur Rahman Sheikh, Sheikh Aminur Rahman and SM Badrul Huda Hiru are contesting for the post of chairman.
The number of voters in Rajnagar union is 9,943.
In Khaolia union under Morrelganj upazila, AL candidate Saidur Rahman, Jatiya Party candidate Abul Hossain Hawlader, and independent candidate Abdul Hai Khan are running for the chairman post.
The number of voters in Khaolia union is 21,513.
Bagerhat District Election Officer Faraji Benazir Ahmed said no untoward incident was reported.
The elections to these two unions were suspended on September 20 following violence.
