CEC flies to Russia to observe federal elections
Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda left Dhaka this morning for Russia to observe the Federal Assembly elections to the State Duma (lower house of the Federal Assembly).
He will be leading a two-member delegation during his seven-day official visit on invitation of Russian counterpart, Election Commission Joint Secretary SM Asaduzzaman confirmed.
Abul Kashem Mohammed Mazharul Islam, private secretary to the CEC, will accompany him, said EC officials.
The elections to State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation will be held from September 17-19.
The delegation will return to Dhaka on September 22.
The host will provide accommodation and hospitality while the Bangladesh Election Commission will bear the cost of international airfare and other expenses, the EC officials said.
In absence of KM Nurul Huda, EC Mahbub Talukdar will act as in-charge CEC, officials said.
