2 shot in AL infighting in Narayanganj after UP polls, 8 injured

At least 10 persons were injured, including two sustaining bullet wounds, in the post polls violence between two factions of Awami League in Narayanganj's Rupganj upazila last night.
Yusuf Miah (40) and Renu Miah (35) sustained bullets wounds and were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with critical injuries, reports our Narayanganj correspondent quoting Abir Hossain, assistant superintendent of police of Narayanganj (C circle).
Other injured are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.
The incident occurred at Naora area of the upazila around 8:00pm.
Quoting locals, Jayedul Alam, superintendent of police of Narayanganj, said a clash ensued between the supporters of the Kayetpara Union Parishad's member-elect Jashim Uddin and former member Mossarraf Hossain --leaving 10 people injured including two with bullet wounds.
During the clash, agitated supporters vandalised and set fire on five houses, four motorcycles and a private car, police and locals said.
Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control at around 10pm, the police officer said, adding that they have deployed additional police forces to fend off any untoward situation.
He said attempts are on to nab the perpetrators who were involved in the incident.
