15 injured in pre-polls violence in Ctg
At least 15 people were injured in a clash between the supporters of two rival chairman candidates centring the upcoming Amilaish Union Parishad election in Chattogram today.
The clash ensued between supporters of Awami League candidate Sarwar Uddin and independent candidate HM Hanif while they were conducting their election campaigns at Khodarhat area in Satkania upazila around 6pm, reports our Chattogram correspondent quoting Sujon Dey, inspector (investigation) of Satkania Police Station.
On information, police rushed to the spot but found none, he said.
The injured were undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital and Satkania Upazila Health Complex, the police officer said.
However, The Daily Star could not contact Sarwar or Hanif over phone for their comments.
Earlier on January 27, at least 13 people were injured when supporters of two other chairman candidates were locked into a clash at Khagaria union of the upazila centring the upcoming UP polls.
