DU wins inter-uni chess tournament thrice in a row

Dhaka University (DU) has won the inter-university chess championship for the third consecutive time this year.
Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) was the runners-up in the competition, reports our DU correspondent.
The games, from September 14 to 17, were held at the Bangladesh Chess Federation and its prize-giving ceremony was held yesterday.
A total of twelve teams from the seven universities fought for the trophy, in a Swiss League system.
In the tournament, Dhaka University Knightmares held the title of being the undefeated champions.
Another team of Dhaka University, DU Castle Crushers, became the second runners-up.
DU Knightmares comprise of Tanveer Alam, Sohel Mia, Md Nahid Hasan, Md Fazle Elahi, Shanto Cheecham, and Md Ahsanul Haque Imon.
Meanwhile, Castle Crushers players are Galib Hasan Annoy, Faisal Ahmed Hridoy, Sabuj Ahmed Sagor, Ragib Shahriar, Ratul Ahmed Khan, and Raj Chauhan.
Bangladesh Chess Federation and Sports Bangla jointly organised the Inter-University Indoor Games 2023 with the support of Great Wall Ceramic Industries Limited.
In 2019 and 2022, the DU chess team won beating Jahangirnagar and Jagannath universities.
The competition was not held from 2020 to 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
