South Korea, Bangladesh sign MoU on scientific and tech cooperation
The Ministry of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of Bangladesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on scientific and technological cooperation.
According to a press release of Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Ambassador Lee Jang-keun, during a meeting with Yeafesh Osman, Minister of Science and Technology of Bangladesh, on January 27, handed over the MoU cross-signed by his Korean counterpart, Minister Lim Heysook on the date of December 30, 2021. Upon agreement on the text, the MOU signed by Minister Yeafesh was sent to Korea in November last year through a diplomatic channel. Due to the pandemic situation both sides could not hold face-to-face signing ceremony.
The MOU was signed to strengthen the implementation of the two governments' Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation, which was signed in May 1995. The MOU specifies a number of areas and types of cooperation, including the formation of a Joint Committee.
Ambassador Lee expressed his commitment and willingness to this end at the signing, stating that the MOU has laid an important institutional foundation for furthering science and technology cooperation between the two countries. Several issues concerning scientific and technological cooperation were discussed during the meeting.
