Singapore pledges to deepen bilateral relations with Bangladesh celebrating 50 years of ties
Bangladesh and Singapore have pledged to further deepen and expedite the bilateral relations as they celebrate the 50 years of diplomatic relations this year.
The commitment was made during the meeting between Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan in Singapore today.
Momen urged Singapore to keep international pressure on Myanmar to resolve the Rohingya crisis.
He also sought Singapore government's support to expedite the process of Bangladesh's inclusion in the Asean forum as sectoral dialogue partner.
In reply, the Singaporean foreign minister reiterated his government support in these regards.
Momen underscored the signing of the free trade agreement (FTA) between Bangladesh and Singapore to expand trade and commerce relations between the two countries.
Foreign minister expressed his gratitude to the Singapore government and its people as the National University Singapore decided to commence an award in the name of Bangabandhu.
Momen is now on a three-day official visit in Singapore at the invitation of the Singaporean government.
