'Not for foreigners to say how Bangladesh will hold national election'
It's not up to foreigners to say how Bangladesh will hold its national election, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson said today.
"It's not for foreigners to say how the election should be carried out," he said while speaking at "DCAB Talk" at the Jatiya Press Club in the capital today.
Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) organised the talk where its President Pantho Rahaman and General Secretary AKM Moinuddin also spoke.
Matters related to the election should be a Bangladesh-driven and Bangladesh-led process as it is for the people of this country to decide, said the envoy.
Dickson said Bangladesh has plenty of expertise and talents to make the election a Bangladesh-driven process, reflecting the values of the country's constitution.
It is important that all political parties participate in the elections -- having confidence in the electoral process, he also said.
