D-8 20th ministerial meeting on July 27
The 20th ministerial meeting of the Developing-8 countries will be held on July 27, which is likely to highlight the food and energy cooperation.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the session of the D-8 Council of Ministers virtually.
Delegations representing the foreign ministers of the eight countries -- Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey – will attend the meeting.
So far, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Pakistan State Minister for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani have confirmed joining the meeting. High officials of other countries will represent their foreign ministers.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen at a briefing at the foreign ministry today (July 24, 2022) said food security, energy, trade, small and medium industries, transport, tourism will get priorities in the event.
The issue of Azerbijan's application for D-8 membership will also be discussed at the ministerial meeting.
The 45th session of the D-8 Commission will be held on July 25 and 26.
