Writ seeks probe into graft allegations against ex-Gazipur mayor

A writ petition was filed with the High Court today seeking its directive on the authorities concerned to conduct probe into the corruption allegations against suspended Gazipur mayor Mohammad Zahangir Alam.

Md Abdur Rahim Sarkar, a resident from Gazipur, submitted the petition as a public interest litigation through lawyer Md Ekramul Haque Tutul, requesting the HC to order the Anti-Corruption Commission to conduct enquiry into the reported allegations against Zahangir and to produce a report to this court.

Ekramul Haque Tutul told The Daily Star that his client has filed the writ petition following reports published in different newspapers, including The Daily Star, about the corruption committed by Zahangir.
