Woman’s body recovered from Jatrabari
Police have recovered the decomposed body of a woman from a garbage depot at Bhangapress area of the capital's Jatrabari on Thursday night.
Though the deceased could not be identified immediately, police said she is expected to be around 25 to 30 years old.
"Being informed by a rag-picker, we recovered the body around 10:00pm," said Jatrabari Police Station OC Mazharul Islam.
"We suspect she was murdered. Someone might have burnt her to death, or her body might have caught fire as the garbage at the depot is often set on fire," the official said.
He said the incident may have taken place 10 to 15 days back, adding that the body may have made its way to the depot from somewhere else on a garbage truck.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy yesterday, the OC said.
Morgue sources, however, said they did not see any sign of burns.
