Woman, lover get life term over husband's murder in Sirajganj

A Sirajganj court today sentenced a housewife and her lover to life term imprisonment for killing her husband in Ullapara upazila in 2016.

The convicts are Achhia Khatun (41), wife of late Abu Bakar Mondol, and her lover Ramzan Ali (42) of Lahiripara village in the upazila, reports our Pabna correspondent.

Sirajganj District and Session Court Judge Fazle Khoda Md Nazir pronounced the verdict this noon, said Public Prosecutor Abdur Rahman.

The court also fined Tk 20,000 each, in default of which more one year  jail, the PP said.

Both the convicts were present in the court when the verdict was pronounced, PP Abdur Rahman added.

According to the prosecution, Achhia Khatun had extramarital affairs with Ramzan Ali for a long time and finally killed her husband Abu Bakar on June 1, 2016.

Victim's brother Abu Hanif filed a case with Ullapara Police Station. Later police submitted a charge sheet with the district court accusing Achhia and Ramzan.
