Woman killed by relatives over land dispute in Dhaka’s Badda
A woman was beaten to death and two others were injured after their relatives attacked them over a land dispute in Dhaka's Badda area this afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Rubina Akter, 40, an inhabitant of Beraid Boropara area.
Her son Tanvir Hasan Munna, 24, and his cousin Rashidul Islam, are receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for injuries.
Around 15 people led by one Shihabul, Rubina's cousin, and his three sons carried out an attack on the deceased's house this afternoon, Rubina's family members said.
Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Badda Police Station, said a murder took place over land dispute among the relatives and police are investigating it.
Drives are on to arrest the perpetrators, he added.
"My mother tried to resist them when they were assaulting us. Then Shihabul hit her with an iron rod, leaving her critically injured," said Tanvir while being treated at DMCH.
After being treated at a local hospital, Rubina was rushed to Dhaka Medical College hospital where doctors declared her dead around 3:45pm, Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
The body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
