Woman found dead in Dhaka’s Paribagh
A woman was found dead in the middle of two buildings in Dhaka's Paribagh today.
The deceased was identified as Evana Laila Choudhury. Shahbagh police recovered the body around 4:15pm and later sent it to Dhaka Medical College Morgue for autopsy.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shahbagh Police Station Mohammad Moudut Hawlader told The Daily Star the 32-year-old woman lived with her family members on the fifth floor of a nine-storey building on Nawab Habibullah Road in Paribagh.
After receiving the news in the afternoon, the body was recovered, he said.
"We have seen a CCTV footage of the scene. The woman was seen jumping from the roof of the building. We suspect that she may have died by suicide over family feud. However, we are trying to know further details," the OC said.
Evana's father Aman Ullah Chowdhury said she was the mother of two children and her husband is Barrister Abdullah Mahmud Hasan.
"There was a feud between Evana and her husband today. On hearing the news, I went to the house at noon. But after going home, Evana could not be found anywhere. After searching for some time, she was found dead," the victim's father said.
However, talking to The Daily Star, the woman's husband Barrister Abdullah Mahmud Hasan said she slipped from the rooftop.
"Police are investigating how she slipped from the rooftop," he added.
